New fast-charging station in Hallein boosts e-mobility along the Tauern motorway
SMATRICS EnBW is continuing to expand its fast-charging network in Salzburg. The new location in Hallein, with eight powerful high-power charging points (HPC), enables fast charging for e-mobility users from the region and for travellers along the important north-south axis.
Drivers can now charge their electric cars at an additional public fast-charging station in Hallein. Following several charging options in and around Salzburg, another location operated by charging infrastructure provider SMATRICS EnBW is now in operation at Bürgermeisterstraße 7 in Hallein. It is located near exit Hallein on the Tauern motorway (A10) and currently offers an introductory rate of 49 cents per kilowatt hour when using the direct payment function.
‘With the further expansion of ultra-fast charging options, we are helping to ensure that electric vehicle drivers can travel without any restrictions. This makes charging as easy as traditional refuelling,’ explains Thomas Landsbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW.
Customers in Hallein have access to eight state-of-the-art ultra-fast charging points (HPC) with a capacity of up to 400 kW. Depending on their vehicle's power consumption, they can charge enough electricity for up to 400 kilometres of range in just 15 minutes at these high-power charging points. With a range of 400 kilometres, electric vehicle drivers can reach cities such as Stuttgart, Venice or Rijeka. In addition to the app, the current price per kilowatt hour at the location is also displayed on a price display board – so customers can always keep an eye on the cost of charging.
Mayor Alexander Stangassinger also expressed his enthusiasm during the opening of the new location: ‘With this fast-charging station, we are sending a clear signal for sustainable mobility in our region and providing real added value for our citizens, tourists and daily commuters.’
The expansion of the fast-charging infrastructure in Salzburg continues at a rapid pace: by the end of 2025, 80 HPC charging points were already in operation in Salzburg. Another ultra-fast charging location is planned for Zell am See this year. All SMATRICS EnBW fast-charging points, including the charging stations in Hallein, are supplied with 100 per cent green electricity.
